Independent developer Rotoscope Studios has shared a new trailer for beta decay, their low-poly dark and dystopian shooter RPG.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus the new trailer:
Mankind has expanded its reach beyond the Sol System. Factions, mega-corporations and syndicates are locked in a political and economic strife. The inevitable destruction and decay of a colonized exoplanet is imminent.
Live amongst the colonists as a citizen of the new frontier. Be an engineer, repairing shuttles in space, to a syndicate leader, executing raids deep within a labyrinthic neon city.
Features
- MEGALOPOLIS – beta decay presents vast cityscapes and deformable planetary terrain. Delve deep into a labyrinthic city that is soaked with neon lights and dense crowds. Massive structures scrape the skylines that consist of Megatenements for housing and Megaplazas for corporate consortia.
- NOWA ATMOSFERA. ESTETYKA – Mixing the old with the new.
- High tech, low life – Cybernetic enhancements and nanomachines have become a commodity amongst the population.
- PLAYER – DRIVEN STAR SYSTEM AND ECONOMY – Trade products through physical shops on the streets to digital securities on the Centauri Exchange. Take on roles ranging from an engineer calibrating communication servers, to a faction leader executing territory raids on rival syndicates.
- CONSTRUCTION. BUILD STARSHIPS – Build spacecraft with complex sub-systems such as power grids, server networks, and life support systems to keep your crew alive in deep space. Players may go where they like, when they like, doing whatever they like.
- ROGUELIKE. ALPHA CEN – Death is unforgiving. Eat, drink and sleep to keep your character alive. Practice caution and avoid unnecessary risks on foreign worlds where viruses, anomalies and creatures may reside.
- FACTIONS. MEGACORPORATIONS. SYNDICATES. TERRITORY – Join Faction divisions, Corporate Subsidiaries, or Syndicate Cells in an endless fight for territorial control of the Alpha Centauri star system.
beta decay is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), though a release date wasn’t confirmed. The game has been running pre-alpha tests via its Patreon.
